Police have arrested two people after an alleged robbery in which a man presented a knife and took an e-bike from teenagers on Lake Road in Belmont on Saturday afternoon.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Williams said two teenagers were riding along Lake Road about 2.30pm when a vehicle pulled alongside them. The male passenger allegedly demanded one of the bikes while presenting a knife, then pushed one rider off, assaulted him, and rode away on the bike.

Officers identified a vehicle registration and yesterday executed search warrants at properties in Belmont and Ōtara. Two people were taken into custody at the Ōtara address. Police say a number of other stolen items were found at the property, but the e-bike has not yet been recovered. Enquiries to locate it are ongoing.

A 28-year-old man is due in North Shore District Court today charged with aggravated robbery and three counts of shoplifting. A 31-year-old woman is charged with resisting Police, assaulting Police, and failing to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search, and is expected to appear in the same court tomorrow.

Williams acknowledged staff involved and noted the cross-district work on the case.
