One person has been taken to hospital with moderate injuries after an assault in Cannons Creek this morning.

Emergency services were called to Dido Place just before 7:40am. Police said nearby schools were placed into lockdown while initial enquiries were carried out; those lockdowns have since been lifted.

A number of officers remain at the scene and some are armed as a precaution, Kāpiti-Mana Area Commander Inspector Renée Perkins said.

An investigation is underway. Police have not released further details, including whether any arrests have been made or if they are seeking anyone in connection with the assault.
