Police seize 500g of meth and six firearms after central Christchurch stop
A 58-year-old described by Police as a gang member has been remanded after officers found half a kilo of meth in his car and more drugs, cash and six guns at a home.
Police say a 58-year-old man was arrested after the Te Wai Pounamu Gang Disruption Unit located a person of interest on Litchfield Street at about 2:45pm on Thursday, 2 April.
A search of the man’s vehicle found about 500 grams of methamphetamine. Officers then executed a search at his address, locating a further 10 grams of meth, six firearms including a loaded pistol, and a large amount of cash. Police estimate the drugs’ street value at around $150,000.
The man has been charged with supplying methamphetamine, remanded in custody, and is due to reappear in the Christchurch District Court on 28 April. Police say further charges are being considered.
