Officers were called to Ngapipito Road about 11.10pm following reports of a serious incident. One person was found dead at the scene on Ngapipito Road in Kaikohe. Police say a second rider was knocked off their bike on Tana Road in Moerewa and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Detectives are in the early stages of establishing the circumstances of what occurred. Ngapipito Road is closed between Mangakahia Road (SH15) and the Tana Road intersection and is expected to remain shut for some time. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
