A 19-year-old has been charged with murder over the death of Greig Kelvin Temarama-Abela following a street fight in Ōtara last month.

Police were called to Wymondley Road shortly before midnight on 1 August after reports of a group fighting. Two men were found with critical injuries and taken to hospital. Temarama-Abela died a short time later.

Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua said the man, who had earlier been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to the second victim, has now also been charged with murder. He is due to appear in Manukau District Court tomorrow.

Police said they are limited in what they can comment on while the matter is before the court.
